How to protect your back

In order to avoid problems in the back, the best possible prevention method is to adopt a good posture, regardless of the type of activity you do (sitting / standing / resting / working / doing leisure activities or physical exercise).

Performing correct physical movements will avoid causing damage to your muscles, joints, ligaments or organs.

• When standing, do not arch your back too much. Keep your spine straight.

• If your seat is too high, your lumbar curve will increase. • In order to reduce the lumbar curve, place your feet on a footrest. Your knees must be higher than your hips.

• Do not move the driver’s seat too far back as this would increase the lumbar curve. • Pull the seat close enough so that your buttocks touch the back of the seat, which must be as straight as possible. Use the headrest to support your head and the cervical area.
• Slouching in an armchair can cause damage to the neck and the shoulders and create symptoms of hyperkyphosis. • It is best to sit up and keep your back as straight as possible. It is also recommended to place a thin pillow (or a rolled-up towel) under your neck.
